Musée des Abénakis
Situated in the heart of the First Nations community of Odanak, the Musée des Abanakis promotes the cultural development of the Abenaki Nation and the preservation of its traditions. In 1700, an impressive fort was built for and by the Abenaki on Odanak land. The discovery of this fort would represent a historic precedent because it was the only such establishment in 18th-century North America to be occupied mainly by Aboriginal people. Archaeological research started in June 2010 may lead to its discovery.
