Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site

Escape to the shores of the majestic Lake Timiskaming, where peace and beauty await you just a few hours away from the big city. Built on a site used by the Algonquin people for over 1 000 years, Fort Témiscamingue-Obadjiwan was once an important trading post. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the fort played a strategic role in the ongoing struggle between the French and British for control of the fur trade in the Upper Ottawa and Hudson Bay basins.
